TEXT: HEBREW 2:9-16
INTRODUCTION: In last week’s study, we were reminded that long life here on earth and eternal life is our Covenant right. Life is sourced from God.
God ensures that this covenant is sustained by His Spirit in us, the availability of His word to us, and the faith to transform the written word to the living word. Christ in us assures us of the availability of the bread of life for us.
The consciousness of these truths will enable us to have victory over the fear of death and live fulfilled lives here on earth with the assured eternal life hereafter.
Discuss how God sustains our lives.
1) Through the help of the Holy Spirit: Jn. 4:14; Rm. 8:6; II Cor. 3:6
The Holy Spirit in us is a life-giving spirit. It translates the letter of the word which can kill to the spirit of the word which ensures life. He is the breath of God in us.
2) Through His Word: Jn. 6:63; Heb. 4:2, Jn. 6: 48
It is the mixing of the word of God with faith that leads to the quickening of our mortal bodies. As long as the word of God dwells in you, no one can kill you.
3) Our union with Christ: Col. 3:3; Jn. 11:25; I Jn. 5:12; Jn. 10:10; Heb. 2:14-16
Our union with Christ hides us from the devil whose sole purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus Christ is the bread of life.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
